Denver South is both the community surrounding the I-25 corridor south of Denver and the economic development and transportation partnership that convenes public and private stakeholders to drive economic sustainability in the region. We are home to 15,000 businesses, 250,000 employees, and represent 11% of Colorado’s GDP. Denver South and South Metro Fire Rescue (SMFRA) have long served common stakeholders, contributing to the region’s economic vitality and quality of life. Public safety being a cornerstone of both. Business owners, property owners, employees, and residents rely on SMFRA to deliver consistent and necessary services to protect investments within our economy. It is our position that a strong SMFRA is necessary for continued quality of life and economic stability in the region.

With population growth and expanding service demands, additional funding is essential to maintain service levels. Ballot Issue 7A is an investment in reliable emergency response, skilled personnel, and modern equipment.

We urge a YES vote on Ballot Issue 7A to ensure SMFRA can continue safeguarding our community investments and future growth.

The Highlands Ranch Metro District is proud to be served by South Metro Fire Rescue, a trusted and essential partner in protecting our community. The Metro District Board recognizes the growing demand for emergency services, along with rising operational and capital costs that challenge South Metro’s ability to maintain current service levels. To help ensure the continued safety and well-being of our residents, the Board fully supports Ballot Issue 7A, which would modestly increase the property tax rate. This additional funding is critical to sustaining high-quality emergency response and preparedness throughout Highlands Ranch and the broader region.

We support SMFR’s ballot issue 7A to request voter approval for the funding to continue the high level of service they provide to those who call them.  Sterling Ranch thanks all First Responders and the work they do to keep our community safe.  South Metro Fire Rescue provides fire, medical, and emergency response to the community of Sterling Ranch and surrounding areas. We support SMFR and their focus on prioritizing the protection of life and property, as well as keeping their highly trained and professional first responders safe as they show up to serve our residents in their time of need.

The Littleton City Council and The City of Centennial passed resolutions in support of SMFR’s Ballot Issue 7A at their October 7th council meetings.
